Thanks to all my new followers. I’m vetting and following back as I have time to verify there is an actual and active person on the other end.
It does help make connections (for me, anyway) if there is more to a bio than, “escaping Twitter, I’m here now”. Please, if you can, take some time when getting rolling to include something about interests/likes, work/life, hopes/dreams—if we’re going to spend time together let’s build a better—more interesting, thoughtful, and engaged—place to hang out…
With the recent exodus from whozit’s whatzit, it seems I have many new followers, which is great—thanks!
However, it appears that many have hidden (or otherwise limited access to) their posts/replies. Most likely this is the setting in Preferences > Other > Posting Privacy having been set to something other than Public. While I understand why this might be desirable (especially coming from that other “place”), if I can’t readily get a sense of what you’re about, I’ll be reluctant to follow back…
Dead at 100, Henry Kissinger Leaves Behind a Bloody Legacy
Do not speak ill of the dead. That’s an honorable admonition. But what of the truth? When a person dies, should he be remembered accurately? That question is acutely posed by the demise of Henry Kissinger. The veteran diplomat passed away on Wednesday at the age of 100, leaving behind a long legacy that includes […] #press

My kids are either never leaving us, or not living in Vancouver. Those are clearly the only two options now.

And (almost) the only “solution” that gets any coverage by media, or discussion by the politicians, is “encourage developers to build more affordable housing”…! As if handing over managing housing to the real estate industry, and turning it into an uncontrolled profit centre, isn’t how this disaster came about in the first place.
As a group we just don’t seem capable of learning. When you’re in a hole, stop digging…
BTW I no longer include my Twitter handle in my CNN articles- only my Mastodon handle. I refuse to promote Elon Musk's Ponzi scheme. https://www.cnn.com/2023/07/03/opinions/lindsey-graham-booed-trump-rally-obeidallah
Hi friends and welcome!! Here's my periodic reminder that our fact-checking site @TruthOrFiction has a presence on the fediverse, if you like that sort of thing
I mean the honest to good truth is, I just have so little patience for pretend. And I kinda live in a society that functions on it. So, everyone is like "how do you know all this shit" and yeah I guess it's a lotta reading, but also my stomach keeps lurching because just getting along day to day in capitalist hellworld requires a lot of pretending. Mostly pretending I know folks ain't lying right to my face, and that they don't mean to kill me for a fast buck. But a lotta pretending.
Secondly and this is clutch; if the government nationalized all the hospitals, I suppose it is possible they could do creepy experiments on me when I went in for surgery. That is in fact a risk I may have to take. What I have noticed however about places where governments have nationalized the hospitals, is that despite this risk, the vast majority of people do not die sick and poor because "muh insurance" and don't seem that worried about trusting the ebil gubment; with their lives.
Call me old-fashioned, but if a car kills people at ten times the rate of other cars,
the company covers up the data,
and the CEO lies to the public and says the cars are safer…
I think that CEO should go to jail on fraud charges.

Elon Musk confirmed that the new CEO for Twitter will be an executive with ties to the advertising industry.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!” Musk tweeted on Friday. He added that Yaccarino “will focus primarily on business operations" while he will continue to put all his effort into product disintegration and being an arse.
Proponent of Twixit… This is feeling like a community I can live and thrive among. Listening; seeking open minds and the verifiable; eschewing the vile; enjoying the civility and consideration on Mastodon. Play fair, be kind; question presumptions. Also: @iamwahl (more social/cultural convos) or @iamwahl (more tech chat) Please say hello…!
